Running the Remote Digital Loopback
The remote digital loopback (RLB) checks the performance of both the local and
remote ASMi-52CD modems, and the lines connecting them (see
Figure 5-3
).

To run the remote digital loopback test:
• In the Modem Diagnostics screen, move the cursor to LOOP & BERT field by
pressing <Tab> and select REM by typing <f> or <b>, and pressing <Tab>
again.
Running the LEDs Test
The user can perform the LED test to verify that the local unit indicators are
functioning properly.
To run the LEDs test:
• In the Modem Diagnostics screen, move the cursor to LED TEST field by
pressing <Tab> and select ON by typing <f> or <b>, and pressing <Tab>
again.
5.3 Alarms
ASMi-52CD alarm buffer stores system alarm records, which can be viewed on
either an ASCII terminal (see below) or an SNMP management tool. When one or
more alarm records appear in the buffer, the front panel ALM LED lights up. After
the alarm is cleared, the ALM LED turns off.
ASMi-52CD supports three alarm types:
• System alarms
• SHDSL alarms
• E1 alarms.
Each alarm type is displayed on a separate screen.
